Bauchi Police Arrest Three Suspected Murderers and Robbers in Alkaleri

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the alleged murder and robbery of a resident in Gwaram Town, Alkaleri Local Government Area, and recovered a motorcycle believed to belong to the deceased. The arrests, made following a report lodged on March 7, 2026, mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the violent crime. The suspects, identified as Alhaji Muhammad Umar (25), popularly known as “Jijji,” Usman M. Gidado (45), and Danladi Yakubu, also known as “Pagaj” (35), are all residents of Gwaram Town. The operation was carried out by operatives from the Alkaleri Division, who apprehended Umar on June 19, 2026, while he was in possession of the victim’s motorcycle.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the arrest of Umar was based on intelligence gathered after the initial report of culpable homicide and suspected armed robbery. During interrogation, Umar allegedly provided information that led to the identification of the other two suspects. The police then launched a follow-up operation that resulted in the arrest of Gidado and Yakub, as well as the recovery of the motorcycle as key evidence. The exhibit has been secured for further forensic analysis and legal proceedings.

All three suspects and the recovered motorcycle have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough and discreet investigation. The police have stated that the suspects will be formally charged to court once the investigation is complete. The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication. He emphasized the command’s unwavering commitment to tackling violent crimes and ensuring justice for victims.
