A 32-year-old security guard has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl in Abule-Ijoko, Ifo Local Government Area. The suspect, identified as Abraham Anekaly, is accused of attacking the minor on her way home, threatening her with a locally made single-barreled gun, and forcibly taking her to his residence where he allegedly committed the sexual assault. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, June 9, 2026, and was reported to the police early the following morning, June 10, 2026.
According to DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, detectives from the Agbado Division launched a swift and intelligence-driven operation after receiving the complaint. The suspect was tracked down, arrested, and the firearm used in the attack was recovered. Babaseyi confirmed that the victim was immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment, and a medical form was issued for documentation and legal purposes.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor without her consent and attempted to steal her belongings during the incident. The case has now been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation. The suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation and subsequent prosecution.
The State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance policy toward sexual and gender-based violence, especially crimes committed against minors.
