League Two Champions Activate Contract Option for Goalscoring CB Eyed by Super Eagles

EFL League Two champions Bromley have announced their retained and released list, with decisions affecting four players of Nigerian descent.

Earlier this month, Bromley were crowned champions of England’s fourth tier following a 3–1 victory over Walsall on the final day of the season, with towering centre-back Omar Sowunmi among the goalscorers for the Lillywhites.

Despite speculation over a possible departure from the CopperJax Community Stadium, Sowunmi will remain at the club after Bromley activated a contract option to retain the experienced defender.

The centre-back enjoyed an impressive campaign, enhancing his reputation as a goal threat from defence with seven goals in 40 League Two appearances.

His performances were further recognised with inclusion in the EFL League Two Team of the Season.

Born in Colchester to a Nigerian dad and a British mom, Sowunmi is open to playing for the Super Eagles if approached by the Nigeria Football Federation.

Elsewhere, Tade Ibrahim will leave Bromley upon the expiration of his contract on June 30, after featuring in five Premier League Cup matches during the 2025–2026 season.

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Damola Ajayi has returned to his parent club following the conclusion of his spell, while former Fulham defender Idris Odutayo remains in discussions over a new contract.
