In addition to Suleiman, other key positions were filled by experienced party members from across the zone. Rilwanu Jamo of Katsina State was elected Zonal Secretary, while Hassan Gidan Laka of Sokoto State became Zonal Treasurer. Comrade Musa Lawan from Katsina was appointed Zonal Publicity Secretary, and Comrade Inuwa Idris of Kaduna was chosen as Zonal Financial Secretary.
The new leadership also includes Bishop Alex Baidi as Zonal Organising Secretary, Dr. Aminu Sagagi as Welfare Secretary, Garba Namodori as Auditor, Ummi Kabir as Women Leader, and Murtala Jangebe as Youth Leader. These appointments reflect a deliberate effort to ensure representation from different states and sectors within the party.
The election of these officials marks a significant step in the SDP’s efforts to reorganize and reposition itself ahead of future political contests. With a clear leadership structure in place, the party aims to consolidate its presence in the North-West and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic landscape. The new zonal leadership is expected to work closely with state chapters to strengthen party activities and increase voter engagement in the region.
