INEC Recognizes NNPP Under Balas Leadership, Party Leader Confirms

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), under the leadership of Bala Yunusa Mohammed, has confirmed the successful completion of its annual verification exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), marking a significant milestone in the party’s institutional stability and democratic legitimacy. The exercise, conducted in line with INEC’s statutory responsibilities, thoroughly reviewed the NNPP’s administrative structures, membership records, and operational capacity. Officials from INEC carried out the verification at the party’s recognized headquarters, affirming the current leadership as the only legitimate and officially recognized NWC of the NNPP.

The NNPP stated that the smooth execution of the verification process effectively neutralizes claims by expelled members who have attempted to challenge the party’s leadership. The party emphasized that these individuals, who have been legally declared non-members by a Federal High Court in Abuja, have resorted to what it described as “legal shadow-boxing” by relying on court orders obtained per incuriam — meaning without full knowledge of the facts. The NNPP accused them of deliberately withholding material evidence from subsequent courts to mislead the judiciary, a tactic the party insists will be fully exposed in the Supreme Court.

The party’s statement underscored that the Federal High Court judgment confirming the expulsion of these members remains in force and has not been overturned. It stressed that the law does not favor those who manipulate judicial processes to sustain a failed political agenda. The NNPP declared that it has successfully removed the influence of transactional politicians who had long hindered its growth and development. With this internal cleansing, the party is now stronger, more united, and better positioned for the 2027 general elections.

In a clear show of preparedness, the NNPP has already submitted its primary election schedule to INEC. The party plans to conduct primaries for all elective positions — including Presidential, Senate, House of Representatives, Governorship, and House of Assembly — on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. These primaries will be held nationwide using the Consensus mode across all 8,809 wards in the country’s 774 Local Government Areas. The NNPP is actively encouraging Nigerians, especially youth, women, and professionals, to register as members and participate in building a party grounded in grassroots democracy and equity.

The NNPP described this period as the beginning of its most glorious chapter, urging loyal members to remain steadfast while warning detractors that the party’s momentum is irreversible. As the political landscape evolves, the NNPP’s verified status and structured roadmap for 2027 signal a serious contender in Nigeria’s upcoming electoral cycle.
