Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have officially affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election, following a peaceful and widely participated presidential primary held across all 332 wards in the state on Saturday. The exercise, which marked a key step in the party’s preparations for the next general election, saw enthusiastic turnout from APC members who queued in support of President Tinubu. The primary was conducted without incident in Osogbo and Olorunda local government areas, with party officials and supporters affirming the smooth execution of the process.
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, actively participated in the primary at Iragbiji Ward 1, accompanied by a group of loyal party members and supporters. His presence underscored the party’s unity and commitment to the presidential candidate. Similarly, Bola Oyebamiji, the APC’s governorship candidate in Osun State, took part in the exercise at Ikire Ward 9, further demonstrating broad-based participation from across the party’s leadership.
Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a key grassroots network within the APC, played a crucial role as ward agents for President Tinubu during the primary. Their presence was evident in numerous wards, ensuring that the party’s nominee received strong support at the local level. In contrast, another presidential aspirant, Stanley Osifo, was notably absent from many of the monitored wards, with reports indicating he did not have agents present in several locations.
Sunday Akere, the Osun Renewed Hope Ambassador, spoke to journalists after the exercise, confirming that the primary proceeded smoothly without any crises. He highlighted that materials from the primary election committee were delivered on time to all local governments and wards, enabling seamless voting. Akere emphasized that party members mobilized effectively to support President Tinubu, with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors functioning efficiently as agents at various levels.
He also revealed that the collation of results at the state level was being overseen by Adegboyega Oyetola, who serves as the state collation officer. According to Akere, collation in Boluwaduro Local Government had already been completed, and he was en route to Osogbo to join other coordinators for the final compilation before results are transmitted to Abuja. The process reflects the APC’s structured approach to internal party elections and its focus on transparency and organization.
The outcome of the Osun State primary reinforces President Tinubu’s strong position within the APC as the party moves toward the 2027 general election. With widespread participation and peaceful conduct, the exercise sets a positive precedent for upcoming primaries across Nigeria. The party’s ability to mobilize support and manage logistics efficiently signals confidence in its leadership and organizational strength.
