2027: Imo APC Chairman Urges Wounded Lion Fight to Deliver Tinubu

Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Austin Onyedebelu, has declared that the party’s leadership will fight with the intensity of a wounded lion to secure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri, Onyedebelu emphasized unity, accountability, and grassroots mobilization as key to electoral success. The gathering brought together party officials from the 9 Local Government Areas and 105 wards of Owerri Zone, including LGA Executives, Ward Executives, elected LGA Chairmen, Councillors, and other party leaders.

Onyedebelu stressed that unity remains the most powerful tool for victory in any election. He urged party members and leaders to work hand in hand to ensure overwhelming wins for President Tinubu and all APC candidates across Imo State. He made it clear that party officials would be held personally responsible for the party’s performance in their respective areas. “If you lose our votes, we are going to hold you responsible,” he warned. “Don’t tell us why you failed after the election. Tell us now what will make you fail so we can address it.”

The APC Chairman also cautioned against any form of sabotage or anti-party activities. He reminded members that supporting the opposition would ultimately leave them with nothing, as victory spoils are usually reserved for loyal party members. “If you support the opposition to win against your party, when they begin to share the proceeds of victory, they will first reward their own party members before remembering you,” he stated.

Onyedebelu emphasized that real votes, not shortcuts or fraudulent tactics, are the only path to victory. He insisted that genuine grassroots mobilization is the foundation of electoral success and that only through unity can the party achieve its goals. He described the 2027 general elections as a defining moment for Owerri Zone, which aspires to produce the next Governor of Imo State.

Earlier in the meeting, the State Secretary of the APC, Onyekachi Ibezim, explained that the purpose of the gathering was to strengthen communication between the State Working Committee and grassroots party leaders. He highlighted that LGA and Ward officials are the engine room of the party and will be directly accountable for electoral outcomes. In response, the State Vice Chairman for Owerri Zone, Justus Ogu, assured the State Working Committee that the zone would deliver APC candidates from the presidential level down to the State House of Assembly.

As the 2027 elections approach, the APC in Imo State is mobilizing its forces with renewed determination to consolidate its political base and secure a decisive victory.
