The Action Peoples Party (APP) in Imo State has declared itself fully prepared to contest the 2027 general elections, asserting its readiness to win and deliver change to the people of the state. At a press conference held in Owerri, the party’s chairman, Chief Ernest Njesi, confirmed that all candidates have been officially uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) database. The list includes three senatorial candidates, ten candidates for the House of Representatives, and 27 aspirants for the Imo State House of Assembly. This strategic move underscores the party’s commitment to fielding a comprehensive slate across all levels of government.
Chief Njesi emphasized that the APP is intensifying grassroots mobilization efforts, visiting communities across Imo State to engage voters and educate them on the party’s policies and development agenda. The chairman also announced that Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, the party’s leader in Imo State, will contest for the Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senate seat in 2027. Following his senatorial ambition, Dr. Amadi has expressed his intention to pursue the governorship of Imo State in the future, positioning himself as a key figure in the party’s long-term leadership plan.
In a separate development, the APP leadership condemned what it described as a recent attack on its state secretariat and the destruction of one of its billboards. The party accused political opponents of orchestrating the incident, warning that such acts of intimidation will not deter its electoral ambitions. Ambassador Steve Nnadi, the party’s Publicity Secretary, appealed to journalists to report the truth without fear or favor, highlighting the importance of a free and fair media environment.
