2027: Arise Party Picks Nomination, Launches Expression of Interest Forms for Ekiti North, Vows Consolidation

Former Senate Committee Chairman on Privatisation, Ayo Arise, has officially entered the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Ekiti North Senatorial District, purchasing both the nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the May 22, 2026, party primary. The announcement comes after Arise’s extensive grassroots campaign tour, during which he visited all 56 wards in the district to engage APC leaders and supporters. He expressed strong confidence in his chances, citing his proven track record and commitment to public service as key factors in his bid to return to the Senate.

Arise, who served as a Senator representing Ekiti North from 2007 to 2011, emphasized that his return to politics is driven by a desire to serve the people rather than personal gain. “God has really blessed me beyond human comprehension. I am not hungry. I am contesting again to further develop the people and society,” he stated. He added that many politicians seek office for fame and money, but his motivation stems from gratitude to God for his blessings, which he aims to use to uplift communities across Ekiti North.

During his first tenure in the Senate, Arise highlighted significant achievements, including the successful lobbying for the establishment of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). He also noted his efforts in building and renovating health centres, libraries, and infrastructure such as power and water supply in various communities. Additionally, he implemented empowerment programmes aimed at alleviating poverty and improving livelihoods for residents in the senatorial district.

To mobilize support, Arise has organized approximately 7,000 canvassers to reach out to APC members and encourage participation in his campaign. He commended the overwhelming reception he received during his recent tour, saying it reflects the people’s preference for competence, hard work, and humility over sentimental or divisive politics. “Our agenda is clear, unambiguous, and unparalleled. It is now time to create wealth, employment, and ensure the well-being of the people,” he declared.

Arise also called for unity within the APC, urging party members to remain focused and committed, especially ahead of the upcoming governorship election and the 2027 general elections. He assured them that the era of selfless service without recognition or reward is over. He stressed the importance of having competent representatives in the National Assembly to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s development agenda in Ekiti State. As the 2026 primary approaches, Arise’s campaign signals a strong push to reclaim his former Senate seat and continue his legacy of development in Ekiti North.
