Social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has announced a temporary withdrawal from all social media platforms, citing concerns that his online presence may be distracting Nigerian youths from engaging in critical civic activities. In a video posted on his Instagram account, VDM explained his decision, emphasizing the need for young people to focus on national issues such as government accountability, governance reform, and peaceful protests. He stated that he has received feedback accusing him of diverting attention away from these important matters, prompting him to step back voluntarily.
VDM made it clear that his break is intentional and not a reaction to any external pressure. “I have decided not to post on social media for now because of the accusations that my posts are distracting Nigerian youths from holding the government accountable,” he said in the video.
