Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have launched a clearance operation in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, targeting suspected Boko Haram enclaves in the region. The military operation, conducted on April 19 at approximately 1000 hours, was carried out by units of the 29 Task Force Brigade in coordination with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the development in a post on his X handle on Monday, providing insights into the ongoing security efforts in the North-East.
The troops, deployed on Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carriers, and gun trucks, advanced from Benisheikh through strategic routes including Qwayari, Karnakasari, the Camel Route, and the Mainok axis. These routes are known to be used by insurgents for movement and supply logistics, making them key targets for military disruption. The operation’s primary objective was to dismantle suspected insurgent hideouts and restrict the freedom of movement of Boko Haram and ISWAP elements within the corridor.
Despite the extensive deployment and thorough sweep of the area, no direct engagement with insurgents was reported during the operation. Military authorities noted that the mission is still ongoing and part of a broader strategy of sustained clearance and domination across the North-East theatre. They emphasized that while the region remains relatively calm, the security situation is inherently unpredictable due to persistent threats from terrorist groups.
The Nigerian military continues to maintain high morale and operational efficiency, according to official sources. This operation underscores the commitment of security forces to reclaim and secure areas previously affected by insurgency. The use of armored vehicles and coordinated efforts with civilian forces highlights a multi-layered approach to counter-terrorism in the region.
This clearance operation comes amid a surge in attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP in the North-East, including recent assaults on communities and military installations. The military’s proactive measures aim to prevent further escalation and restore long-term stability. As the operation progresses, security agencies are expected to continue monitoring the area closely to prevent insurgent resurgence.
The ongoing efforts reflect Nigeria’s determination to combat terrorism and protect its citizens, particularly in conflict-prone areas like Borno State. With continued military operations and community collaboration, authorities hope to achieve lasting peace and security in the region.
