The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 16 suspects and recovered stolen vehicles, illegal petroleum products, and vandalized telecom equipment during its ongoing “Operation KOSAYE,” which ran from July 12 to July 21, 2026. The operation targeted criminal activities including diesel bunkering, infrastructure vandalism, burglary, defilement, and hijacking across various local government areas in the state. The arrests were made under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, as part of the Inspector General of Police’s intelligence-led policing strategy. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the results, highlighting the command’s commitment to restoring security and protecting critical national infrastructure.
Among those arrested are Kabiru Afolabi, 51, who was apprehended on July 21, 2026, in Abule-Iroko, Sango, for involvement in a diesel bunkering syndicate. Police recovered four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil, thirteen 25-litre jerry cans of diesel, one pumping machine, and a generator used in the illegal operation. On July 12, 2026, detectives from the Ota Division arrested Nnabike Uzolo, 26, and Chino Mgbenya, 28, for vandalizing a telecommunications mast cable in Ten Ten Street, Mine, Ota. The suspects were apprehended after receiving credible intelligence from the public.
On the same day, July 21, 2026, detectives from the Idanyin Division arrested Hammed Olanrewaju and Emmanuel Victor for burglary at a commercial establishment, with part of the stolen property recovered from a receiver’s shop. In another case, Mathew Mark, 20, was arrested on July 3, 2026, after a painstaking investigation into the theft of a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, which was successfully recovered. A separate investigation into a house-breaking incident on July 5, 2026, led to the arrest of Sodiq Raji, 32, and subsequently Zubby Nzube, 28, Adeyemi Omoyajuowo, 30, and Chimezie Iwuanya, 35.
In a serious case of child abuse, Saliu Akinwande, 50, was arrested on July 21, 2026, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl. The victim was taken for medical examination, and the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further investigation. On July 19, 2026, operatives from the Ijebu Imushin Division recovered a hijacked mini truck carrying aluminium doors and window frames along the Benin/Ore Expressway after armed hoodlums fled into a nearby forest upon sighting police. An abandoned bus was also recovered on July 21, 2026, by operatives from the Atan Ijebu Division and taken to the station for safekeeping.
Additional arrests were made between July 13 and 21, 2026, including Ayomide Odufuwa, 27; Adura Adebanjo, 26; Samuel Sunday, 25; and two others named Bashiru and Muhammed, in connection with burglary and house-breaking cases. DSP Babaseyi stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicates, and some suspects have already been charged to court. CP Ojajuni praised the officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s dedication to sustaining Operation KOSAYE through intelligence, patrols, and community partnership. The operation underscores the police’s resolve to combat crime and ensure public safety across Ogun State.
