Ekiti State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested a suspected member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity, Adeleke Tosin, alias Damo, after recovering a locally made pistol from him in Ado-Ekiti metropolis on April 16, 2026. The arrest followed a credible tip-off that the suspect was seen in the city with the firearm, prompting a swift and coordinated police operation. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was apprehended after a thorough investigation, underscoring the police’s commitment to tackling cultism and gun violence in the state.
During interrogation, Adeleke reportedly confessed to being a member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity and admitted involvement in recent violent clashes between rival cult groups in Ado-Ekiti and surrounding areas. These clashes have led to the deaths of several individuals, heightening security concerns in the region. The recovered weapon, a locally made pistol, was seized as evidence, and police are now intensifying efforts to track down and arrest other members of the group who may still be at large.
The Ekiti State Police Command stated that the suspect will be charged to court once the investigation is fully concluded. This development comes amid increased security measures across the state aimed at curbing the activities of cultists and other criminal elements. The police have emphasized that no one is above the law and that all those involved in criminal activities will face the full consequences of their actions.
Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, addressed the public following the arrest, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement. He stressed the importance of community cooperation in ensuring lasting peace and security. “We appeal to the public to support us with credible information,” CP Adegoroye said, adding that the police are determined to rid the state of criminal elements.
He also issued a stern warning to cultists and other offenders, urging them to abandon their criminal ways. “The long arm of the law will catch up with you,” he declared, reinforcing the police’s resolve to maintain order. The arrest of Adeleke Tosin is seen as a significant step in the ongoing campaign against cultism in Ekiti State, which has long been a challenge for security agencies.
As the police continue their operations, residents are being encouraged to stay alert and avoid involvement in any form of violence or criminal activity. The case highlights the dangers posed by armed cultism and the importance of proactive policing. With sustained efforts and public cooperation, authorities hope to reduce crime and restore peace in Ado-Ekiti and beyond.
