Multi-Trex Shares Jump 16.7% After NGX Ends Nearly Eight-Year Suspension

Shares of Multi-Trex Integrated Foods Plc gained 16.67 percent last week after the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) lifted a trading suspension that had remained in place for nearly eight years.

The stock advanced from N0.36 per share to N0.42 during the week ended October 9, 2026, adding six kobo to emerge among the five biggest gainers on the NGX.

The price movement followed the Exchange’s decision to lift the suspension on trading in Multi-Trex shares on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, restoring activity in the company’s stock after years away from the market.

Multi-Trex had been suspended from trading on November 1, 2018, following the company’s failure to comply with requirements relating to the filing of its financial statements.

According to the NGX, the company subsequently filed the relevant financial statements, paving the way for the suspension to be lifted.

The development ended a suspension that lasted almost eight years and allowed investors to resume trading in the company’s shares.

Multi-Trex attracted considerable activity following its return to trading.

The stock was among the most actively traded equities during the October 8 session, when investors exchanged more than 27 million Multi-Trex shares.

By the end of the week, the company’s shares had risen to N0.42, representing a 16.67 percent appreciation from N0.36.

The performance was strong enough to place Multi-Trex fifth on the NGX weekly gainers’ table.

Livestock Feeds led the market with a 47.75 percent increase followed by Tripple Gee at 32.62 percent, Guinea Insurance at 29.17 percent and Learn Africa at 19.61 percent.

Multi-Trex’s advance also came during a broadly weaker week for Nigerian equities.

Only 24 stocks appreciated, while 54 declined and 68 closed unchanged. The NGX All-Share Index fell 0.97 percent to 248,363.55 points during the week.

The company’s return to trading therefore marked a significant development for shareholders who had been unable to trade the stock on the NGX since its suspension in November 2018.
