Kano APC Insists It Did Not Withdraw Support for Tinubu

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing claims that the party has withdrawn backing for his second-term bid. In a statement issued on April 17, 2026, and signed by Auwalu Abdullahi Soja, the APC State Publicity Secretary, the party labeled as false a statement allegedly released by a group called the Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter. The statement claimed the party had pulled support for the President, but the official APC leadership in Kano called it misleading and a deliberate attempt to damage the party’s reputation.

The APC in Kano emphasized that no recognized or constitutionally authorized body within the party has made such a decision. The party stressed that it remains fully committed to President Tinubu and his administration, highlighting its confidence in his leadership. The statement noted that the alleged forum does not exist within the official APC structure and does not represent the views of any legitimate party member in the state.

According to the party, efforts by certain individuals and unnamed groups to create confusion and disunity are unwelcome and counterproductive. The APC leadership in Kano urged members and the public to ignore the false statement, describing it as the work of mischief-makers seeking to undermine party unity. The party also pointed out that the so-called signatory of the withdrawal notice is unknown and not affiliated with the APC at any level in Kano.

Under the leadership of Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, the APC in Kano reiterated its commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s agenda of good governance, economic reforms, and national development. The party remains focused on maintaining internal cohesion and ensuring that its members are not misled by baseless claims. The statement serves as a clear warning to anyone attempting to exploit internal party dynamics for personal or political gain.

The APC in Kano continues to play a vital role in the party’s national strategy, particularly in the North-West region. Its strong stance on supporting the President reflects broader party unity across Nigeria. As the 2027 general elections approach, the party’s leadership is determined to maintain discipline and prevent any internal fractures. The clarification from Kano underscores the APC’s resolve to stay united behind President Tinubu’s vision for the country.
