Ivory Coast Returnee in Nigeria Loses Womb to Human Traffickers: A Harrowing Tale of Exploitation

Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected human traffickers accused of removing a 19-year-old woman’s womb without her consent during an alleged trafficking operation to Ivory Coast. Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi disclosed the development during his first-quarter briefing in Asaba, stating that the suspects, Blessing Mongo (47) and Esther (32), are currently in custody. The incident, which occurred in September 2025, came to light after the victim returned to Nigeria and reported her ordeal to her mother in Ekpan community, Uvwie Local Government Area.
