Borno South Senator Ali Ndume has stated that President Bola Tinubu does not need to serve as chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections. Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, Ndume argued that the president should instead focus on governance while the party’s leadership takes charge of campaign operations. He emphasized that Tinubu is the “product” being sold to voters by the APC and therefore should not be burdened with managing the campaign machinery.
Ndume suggested that the national chairman of the APC should lead the presidential campaign efforts, with state governors taking responsibility for mobilizing support within their respective states. He proposed a coordinated structure where a central team oversees activities across the country, ensuring consistency and efficiency. This approach, he believes, would allow the president to remain focused on national development while the party manages electoral strategies effectively.
Recall that President Tinubu last week formally constituted his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections, naming himself as its chairman.
