Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on all political leaders in the state to unite and work together for the progress of Osun, following the conclusion of the 2026 governorship election. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Friday, Adeleke responded to a peace appeal made by All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Bola Oyebamiji after his visit to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. The governor welcomed Oyebamiji’s message as a positive step toward restoring calm after weeks of intense political activity and heightened tensions during the election period.
Adeleke emphasized that the people of Osun deserve peace and stability now that the electoral process is over. He urged members and supporters of all political parties to exercise restraint and avoid any actions that could threaten peace across the state. The governor reiterated his administration’s consistent stance against the use of violence in politics, even amid pressure during the campaign and election periods.
“I am forever a man of peace,” Adeleke said. “It is heartwarming that my brother, Oyebamiji, is also preaching peace. I assure him that my supporters have not and will not attack APC members.” His words reflect a commitment to post-election unity and mutual respect among political actors. He stressed that the era of competition has ended and that cooperation among leaders is essential for effective governance and development.
The governor declared, “Elections have come and gone, and we are all winners. The common task for us all is to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends and good governance to the good people of Osun State.” He extended an open invitation to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Oyebamiji, and other opposition leaders to join efforts aimed at advancing the state’s interests. “We are all important stakeholders in this Osun project,” he added, reinforcing the need for inclusive leadership.
Adeleke’s call for unity underscores a broader vision for Osun’s future, where political differences are set aside in favor of collective development. His administration remains focused on delivering services and improving livelihoods for residents. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, the governor aims to build a foundation for lasting peace and prosperity. As Osun moves beyond the election season, the emphasis on cooperation signals a hopeful direction for governance in the state.
