A 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly attempting to poison her husband in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area, on August 12, 2026. The suspect, who had been married for about 40 days, is accused of mixing a poisonous substance into her husband’s food, prompting an emergency response from law enforcement. The incident, which occurred in the early evening, led to the victim being rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he is currently receiving treatment and reported to be in stable condition.
The arrest followed a distress call received at approximately 7:40 p.m. from an anonymous woman residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi. Officers from the ‘C’ Division, based in Tafawa Balewa Estate, responded swiftly to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the victim unwell and immediately took steps to secure the area and apprehend the suspect. According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib, the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident and later confessed during interrogation.
During the investigation, police recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poison, along with remnants of the meal that was consumed. These items were registered as exhibits for forensic analysis and further legal proceedings. The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and documentation. Habib confirmed that the suspect will be charged to court once all investigative processes are completed.
