Osun indigenes in the diaspora have pledged unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, vowing to mobilise for his re-election in the 2027 general elections. The group’s youth and political mobilisation coordinator, Olufemi Abayomi, made this announcement in a statement released on Sunday. He urged eligible Osun indigenes living abroad who vote in the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the upcoming election deadlines. The call is part of a broader effort to ensure maximum voter turnout and influence electoral outcomes in favour of President Tinubu and his administration’s vision.
Mr Abayomi emphasized that despite the initial economic hardships faced by Nigerians under Tinubu’s reforms, the long-term benefits are beginning to emerge. He stated that the group remains confident in the President’s leadership and his commitment to national development. “We have endured the pains of the reforms together, and we are beginning to reap the rewards of our endurance,” he said. This sentiment reflects a growing belief among diaspora communities that sustained economic policies will eventually yield positive results for all citizens.
In addition to supporting President Tinubu, Mr Abayomi also called on Osun indigenes abroad to back the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the August 15 election. He specifically encouraged voters to register and cast their ballots for Ambassador Munurudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), describing him as a credible and purposeful leader. The youth leader stressed that Osun State needs strong leadership to tackle pressing challenges in the economy, infrastructure, and education sectors.
To drive this message home, Mr Abayomi has engaged in door-to-door outreach campaigns targeting Osun indigenes in the diaspora. These efforts aim to raise awareness about the importance of voting and to ensure that every eligible person gets their PVC. He reiterated the need for active participation, urging members of the diaspora community to return home or vote remotely if possible. “I urge you to get your voter’s card and vote for credible candidates,” he added, reinforcing the group’s commitment to democratic engagement.
The mobilisation underscores the increasing role of Nigerian diaspora groups in shaping domestic politics.
