A former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Armayau Abubakar, has declared that Nigeria should have no opposition at this time, urging opposition leaders including Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration led by President Bola Tinubu. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Abubakar emphasized that the APC has achieved so much that it is now beyond comparison with other political parties. He argued that the opposition is fragmented and lacks the necessary structure to challenge the current government effectively.
Abubakar stated that it is high time for opposition figures to align with the “winning party,” the APC, and join what he described as the “canoe of Noah” to reach the “promised land” of national progress. He highlighted President Tinubu’s visible achievements, questioning what the opposition could possibly counter with. According to him, even the “blind man” can see that the APC has taken control of the country, citing the party’s dominance in state governorships, the National Assembly, and State Houses of Assembly across the nation.
He further compared the APC’s current strength to the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean and other oceans combined, while describing the opposition as merely the River Benue—tiny and insignificant in comparison. Abubakar maintained that the APC enjoys broad support from major stakeholders and is already positioned to secure a second term for President Tinubu. He questioned the opposition’s ability to make any meaningful impact, noting that they lack clear parameters, coordination, and direction.
Similarly, Dayo Fasola, a women advocate in the APC and National Women Leader of the Renewed Hope People Advocacy, echoed Abubakar’s sentiments. She claimed that the campaign to re-elect President Tinubu has become remarkably easy due to the absence of a strong, unified opposition. Fasola described the opposition as “non-existent” and criticized their lack of coordination, calling it a “pity.” She added that when God intends to complete a mission, He makes it effortless, and in this case, the opposition is offering “zero resistance.”
Both figures underscored the APC’s current dominance in Nigerian politics, asserting that the party’s widespread influence and achievements leave little room for meaningful opposition. Their statements reflect growing confidence within the APC leadership ahead of future elections.
