The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Micah Nuhu, following a violent attack on a woman identified as Mama Kingsley Joseph, who was assaulted with a pestle and had her purse stolen. The incident occurred in the state, prompting swift action by law enforcement. The suspect was apprehended, and the stolen purse was later recovered. The victim was rushed to Cottage Hospital in Bambam for medical treatment, while the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Gombe State Police Command, efforts are currently underway to locate and arrest the fleeing accomplice, identified as Mubarak. The police are intensifying their search and surveillance to ensure all individuals involved in the crime are brought to justice. The arrest underscores the command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and addressing violent crimes in the region.
In a separate operation, two men, Nasiru Aminu, 40, and Jamiu Muhammad, 33, were arrested at a suspected criminal hideout in the Tumfure area of Akko Local Government Area. The suspects are now in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine their involvement in other criminal activities. Authorities believe the hideout may have been used for planning or storing stolen goods, and further evidence is being collected to build a strong case.
Additionally, the police recovered a stolen Toyota Yaris, which had been taken after its owner, Sani Ahmed, was attacked by suspected criminals. The assailants allegedly stabbed Ahmed and forced him out of the vehicle near Tumu-Kashere Junction before fleeing the scene. The victim was evacuated to the Specialist Hospital for medical treatment, while the abandoned car was found near the Army Barracks and secured at the police station.
DSP Abdullahi confirmed that the State Criminal Investigation Department has begun a thorough investigation into the incident. He emphasized that the police remain dedicated to tackling crime and protecting lives and property across Gombe State.
