The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has firmly denied reports of plans to replace any of its candidates who emerged from the party’s recent primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party’s state chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, made this clear during a public event in Lafia on Saturday, where he distributed Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Forms EC9 and EC13E to the 24 candidates vying for seats in the State House of Assembly. Bello described the circulating claims as baseless and urged anyone with evidence to come forward, emphasizing that no substitutions have been made or are being considered.
He explained that the forms were distributed strictly based on the list of candidates submitted by the APC National Secretariat, which is the official source of candidate names for the party. According to Bello, these same names will be uploaded to the INEC portal, making any attempt to replace candidates impossible under current procedures. “You cannot substitute anybody because we are distributing the forms based on the names sent to us by the APC National Secretariat, and those are the names that will be uploaded,” he stated clearly.
The APC chairman also confirmed that the party is working closely with INEC to ensure full compliance with the electoral timetable for the 2027 general elections. He noted that INEC had forwarded the necessary forms to the APC National Headquarters, which then distributed them to state-level candidates. This process, he said, ensures transparency and adherence to electoral guidelines.
Looking ahead, Bello expressed confidence in the party’s chances of victory in the 2027 elections. He pointed to the APC’s recent successes in off-cycle and by-elections across Nigeria as evidence of the party’s strength and resilience. He also mentioned the establishment of a reconciliation committee aimed at addressing grievances among party members and fostering unity ahead of the elections.
In a statement reflecting his faith-based leadership philosophy, Bello said, “Leadership comes from God. It is God who makes leaders, not Aliyu Bello, not Governor Abdullahi Sule, and not even the APC.” This sentiment underscores the party’s focus on spiritual and moral grounding in its political strategy.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, the APC in Nasarawa State is positioning itself as a disciplined and united front, committed to transparency and electoral compliance. The party’s actions signal a firm stance against rumors and a determination to maintain the integrity of its candidate selection process.
