Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, under Operation HADIN KAI, have conducted a series of successful military operations across the North-East, rescuing two abductees, repelling a terrorist attack on a military base, arresting suspected logistics suppliers, and recovering significant amounts of cash, weapons, and supplies. The operations, carried out on July 7 and in subsequent days, took place in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, demonstrating the military’s sustained effort to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security in the region.
In Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, soldiers from the 115 Task Force Battalion rescued two individuals who had been held captive by suspected terrorists. The rescue followed a coordinated search-and-rescue mission that also yielded N1.2 million, food items, and other logistics believed to have been used to support insurgent activities. The rescued victims have been moved to a secure location where they are receiving medical treatment and psychosocial support to aid their recovery.
Meanwhile, at the Forward Operating Base in Logomani, Ngala Local Government Area, troops successfully repelled a coordinated attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters. Although insurgents briefly breached the base’s perimeter, military forces regrouped and forced the attackers to retreat with casualties. Tragically, one soldier lost his life during the engagement, and two gun trucks along with other combat equipment were damaged.
In Adamawa State, soldiers from the 232 Battalion arrested a suspect in Gombi Local Government Area after acting on intelligence. The suspect was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. In Borno’s Mobbar Local Government Area, troops from the 149 Battalion apprehended two individuals linked to terrorist logistics, recovering cash, a Volkswagen Golf car, construction materials, household goods, and other supplies allegedly destined for insurgent use.
Further operations in Wulgo, supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force, led to the recovery of a sack containing assorted illicit drugs after suspected terrorists fled the area. In Gwoza Local Government Area, six suspected ISWAP members and their families surrendered to military personnel, with authorities recovering N1.541 million, two mobile phones, and other materials. Additional interceptions at Molai checkpoint in Borno and Tarmuwa in Yobe State yielded medical supplies and five motorcycle tyres, all believed to be intended for terrorist groups.
These operations are part of Operation HADIN KAI’s ongoing strategy to disrupt terrorist supply chains, rescue captives, and maintain pressure on insurgents across the North-East. The military remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of civilians in the region.
