Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, Victor Ochei, has dismissed the recent Kogi Federal High Court judgment on the party’s registration as a temporary setback, reaffirming his confidence in the legal process and the party’s future. Speaking on Saturday in Asaba, Ochei urged supporters and stakeholders to remain calm and focused, emphasizing that the judgment does not alter his commitment to delivering quality representation and responsive leadership for the people of Delta North. He stressed that the mission to bring tangible opportunities to the region remains unchanged despite the legal challenge.
Ochei, a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, highlighted that history has shown that temporary setbacks do not determine the ultimate success of a just cause. He pointed out that every enduring democratic movement has faced trials and tribulations, and the NDC is no exception. He expressed solidarity with the party leadership, stating that he respects their decision to pursue all lawful and constitutional avenues to resolve the matter. “I join the leadership of the NDC to respectfully disagree with the judgment,” Ochei said, adding that he stands firmly behind the party’s legal efforts.
Addressing his supporters, volunteers, political associates, and the people of Delta North, Ochei called for unity, patience, and continued engagement. He urged them not to succumb to anxiety or discouragement, reminding them that his political aspiration is rooted in service and genuine commitment to the people. “My aspiration has never been about politics for its own sake,” he emphasized. “It is founded on a sincere commitment to deliver quality representation, responsive leadership, and tangible opportunities for the sons and daughters of Delta North.”
Ochei assured that the legal challenge would not derail the party’s mission or his personal vision for the senatorial district. He encouraged members to strengthen grassroots structures, deepen public engagement, and stay focused on the broader goal of good governance and inclusive development. He reiterated his belief in the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial system and expressed confidence that the matter will be resolved positively through due legal processes.
The NDC candidate concluded by calling on everyone to remain united, hopeful, peaceful, and resolute. He reminded them that the ideals of justice, service, inclusion, and good governance are far greater than any temporary obstacle. As the party navigates this legal phase, Ochei’s message is clear: the journey toward democratic transformation in Delta North continues, and the people’s aspirations remain the driving force.
