Niger State Police Command has confirmed that no abduction occurred during a suspected bandit attack on a police outpost in Zugurma Village, Mashegu Local Government Area, emphasizing the security forces’ swift response to the incident. The attack took place around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday when armed bandits blocked the Mokwa–New Bussa Road, invaded the village, and launched an assault on the police outpost. Despite the violence, the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that no personnel or civilians were taken captive during the incident.
SP Abiodun made the announcement during a press briefing in Minna on Monday, assuring the public that the security situation remains under control. He explained that a joint security team, comprising multiple agencies, responded immediately to a distress call following the attack. The coordinated effort forced the attackers to retreat into the Ibbi Forest, where they are currently being tracked by security operatives.
