Warri-Born Former Striker Has No Regrets Playing for Poland, Predicts Match Winner

Emmanuel Olisadebe, the Warri-born former Poland international, has affirmed he has no regrets about choosing to represent Poland at the international level, while also predicting a 2-0 victory for Poland over Nigeria in their upcoming friendly match at the Stadion PGE Narodowy in Warsaw on Wednesday evening.

Olisadebe, who earned 25 caps for Poland and scored 11 goals during his international career, played a pivotal role in Poland’s qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, netting eight goals in nine matches. His standout performance at the tournament in Japan and South Korea included a crucial goal against the United States in the group stage, showcasing his impact on the global stage.

When asked if he would make the same decision to play for Poland if given the chance again, Olisadebe was clear and confident. “Yes, in the same situation,” he stated in an interview shared on Sporty Channel’s YouTube platform. His commitment to Poland remains firm, even decades after retiring from professional football.

The former Jasper United striker also offered his prediction for the upcoming friendly, citing the absence of Nigeria’s key forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman as a major factor. “Because two key players from Nigeria, they are not playing. I don’t know where the goal is going to come from. But I know they are very good players, new players. I have not seen them play, so that’s why I said 2-0,” Olisadebe explained.

Olisadebe clarified that his presence at the event was not in a journalistic capacity but for promotional purposes. “I am a guest, promotional for STS, not journalism. We have something with Bravo Sport, so I was asked by the company to be here, just a kind of promotion for the company,” he said.

He was among the attendees at Poland’s pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon, where he posed a question to manager Jan Urban regarding Robert Lewandowski, highlighting his continued connection to the Polish football scene. Olisadebe’s involvement underscores his enduring influence and relevance in the sport, even beyond his playing days.

As Nigeria prepares for the friendly without two of its most potent attacking threats, Olisadebe’s prediction adds an intriguing perspective to the match. His insight, rooted in experience and observation, reflects the evolving dynamics of international football and the importance of key players in determining outcomes. The match will be closely watched, not just for the result, but for what it may signal about both teams’ preparations for future competitions.
