Jigawa ADC Delays Primary Election Results 72 Hours After Polling Amid Alleged Controversy

Despite the delay, party officials maintained that the postponement was necessary to uphold transparency, fairness, and credibility in the electoral process. Delegates and party members continued to gather at the collation centre, hopeful for the final announcement. DIG Ahmed disclosed that results from only 19 out of the 27 local government areas had been received, while results from eight councils—including Auyo, Roni, and Kazaure—were still pending.

He further revealed that the primaries in Babura, Hadejia, and Gwaram local government areas were marred by alleged malpractices and irregularities. In Guri Local Government Area, no election was held due to a conflict between two factions of the party. DIG Ahmed stated that results from three local government areas were expected to arrive by Wednesday morning, after which the final collation would proceed.

The prolonged wait has raised concerns among party members and political observers, but the electoral committee insists on ensuring a fair and credible outcome. The ADC’s primary exercise in Jigawa State is seen as a crucial step in shaping the party’s electoral strategy ahead of the general elections. The eventual announcement of results will determine the party’s candidates for the upcoming polls and could influence the political landscape in the state.
