The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its House of Representatives primary elections across all federal constituencies in Delta State, with candidates emerging as winners in a process marked by peace, transparency, and high voter turnout. The primaries, held across various wards and local government areas, saw the adoption of both direct voting and Option A4 methods, with consensus arrangements used in some areas to ensure smooth conduct. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who cast his vote in Okpe Local Government Area, commended party members for their peaceful participation and expressed confidence that the unity displayed would carry over into the 2027 general elections.
In the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, Hon. Ramson Onoyake was declared winner by returning officer Mr. Charles Aniagwu. Agents for both Onoyake and his opponent, Mr. Odiate Obaro Emmanuel, praised the party leadership and Governor Oborevwori for creating a level playing field. They also commended party members for their calm and orderly conduct during the exercise. Similarly, in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi emerged victorious, while Hon. Ndudi Elumelu was declared winner in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency after a peaceful collation process at Oshimili South Local Government Council Secretariat.
Chairman of the National Assembly Primaries Committee for Delta State, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, monitored the primaries across the state and described them as orderly and transparent. He emphasized that the direct primary system allowed for a genuine bottom-up democratic process, starting from the ward level and culminating at the federal constituency collation centres. Odo noted that there were no reports of violence or disruptions in any of the areas visited, highlighting the discipline shown by party members.
Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu won the Ethiope Federal Constituency primary, while Hon. Ejiro Waive emerged victorious in Ughelli North/Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency. In Isoko Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko defeated challenger Hon. Dickson Ebegbare to retain his position. Emmanuel Osazuwa was declared winner in Ika Federal Constituency, and Hon. Julius Pondi emerged as the APC candidate for Burutu Federal Constituency.
The Warri Federal Constituency primary also proceeded peacefully, with stakeholders including Warri South Local Government Council Chairman Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro and APC Chairman Comrade Richard Pessu praising President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for ensuring fairness. In Ika Federal Constituency, APC leaders hailed the massive turnout as a sign of strong support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, lauded the Option A4 voting system used in Onicha-Ukwuani, calling it the most transparent and accountable method. He stated that open voting reduces deceit and promotes honesty in elections. Governor Oborevwori reiterated that the peaceful conduct of the primaries reflects the growing strength and unity of the APC in Delta State, setting a positive tone for future elections.
