ADC Releases 2026 Primaries Timetable: Key Dates and Schedule Announced

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its official 2026 primary elections timetable, marking a key step in its preparations for the upcoming general elections. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, announced the schedule in a statement released on Sunday, emphasizing transparency, inclusivity, and strict adherence to electoral guidelines. The process will begin with the sale of nomination forms from May 5 to May 10, 2026, followed by submission of completed forms from May 11 to May 13. This structured timeline reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy and orderly electoral processes.

Screening of aspirants is set for May 14 to May 15, 2026, with results to be published on May 17. Appeals will be heard from May 18 to May 19, and the final list of cleared candidates will be released on May 20. The primary elections will then commence on May 21, with simultaneous voting for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats at the ward level. Governorship primaries are scheduled for May 22, while the Presidential Primary will take place on May 25, 2026. The National Executive Committee will meet on May 26 to review outcomes, and the Special National Convention will hold on May 27 for final ratification of candidates.

To ensure broad participation, the ADC has introduced a structured fee regime for nomination forms. The presidential nomination form is priced at N100 million, governorship at N50 million, Senate at N20 million, House of Representatives at N10 million, and State House of Assembly at N3 million. The party has also introduced concessional rates to encourage inclusivity: a 50 percent discount for youths, and a 25 percent discount for women and persons with disabilities. These measures aim to lower barriers to entry and promote diversity in leadership aspirants.

The ADC is urging all members, stakeholders, and candidates to strictly follow the outlined schedule and guidelines. The party’s leadership believes this transparent and well-organized process will strengthen its internal democracy and enhance public confidence in its electoral credibility. As Nigeria gears up for the 2026 elections, the ADC’s early release of its primary timetable positions it as a party serious about preparation and accountability. This structured approach may set a benchmark for other political parties in the country.
