Troops of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South-South, under Operation DELTA SAFE, have arrested two suspected criminals in Ogidigben Community, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, following a targeted operation. The arrest took place after reports of sporadic shooting in the community raised concerns among residents and security authorities. Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for the 63 Brigade, Captain Iliyasu Bawa-rijau, confirmed the details of the operation and the items recovered.
During the operation, security forces recovered four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two knives, 10 machetes, and four rain boots from the suspects. These weapons and paraphernalia suggest a level of preparedness and intent to carry out violent acts, reinforcing the need for continued vigilance in the region. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation to determine their full involvement in criminal activities.
The 63 Brigade commended its troops for their professionalism, resilience, and swift response to the security threat. Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, Commander of the 63 Brigade, emphasized the importance of sustaining the momentum of Operation DELTA SAFE. He urged soldiers to remain alert and proactive in their duties to ensure peace and security across the South-South region.
General Shonibare also issued a stern warning to anyone harboring arms or engaging in criminal activities, urging them to reconsider their actions. He assured the public that the military would intensify efforts to track down and apprehend all individuals involved in illegal activities. The Brigade remains committed to denying criminal elements the freedom to operate with impunity.
