Ndidi Blames Team After Besiktas Goalless Draw with Karagumruk

Wilfred Ndidi has delivered a harsh critique of Besiktas’ performance after their frustrating 0-0 draw against Fatih Karagumruk in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday at the Tüpraş Stadium. The Super Eagles captain, who plays a key role in the midfield for the Istanbul-based club, expressed deep disappointment following the result, which left Besiktas unable to capitalize on their dominance and multiple chances. The match, played in Round 31 of the league, ended without a goal despite Besiktas’ efforts to break down a resilient Karagumruk defense.

Ndidi admitted the team started poorly, struggling to find rhythm and solutions during the first half. “The draw is very disappointing. We started the game badly, we couldn’t find a solution in the first half,” he told NTV Spor, highlighting the team’s slow and disjointed start. Karagumruk’s disciplined defensive structure made it difficult for Besiktas to create clear opportunities early on, and the home side failed to convert their possession into meaningful attacks.

Although Besiktas improved after halftime and generated several promising chances, they were unable to convert them into goals. El Bilal Toure hit the crossbar with a powerful strike, while Ndidi himself saw a strong header come back off the post in the closing minutes. Other key players like Orkun Kökcü and Milot Rashica also missed crucial opportunities, with Karagumruk goalkeeper Ivo Grbic making several important saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Ndidi did not mince words in his assessment, stating, “We needed to react in the second half, but overall we were bad. This is unacceptable.” He emphasized that despite controlling large parts of the game and creating multiple scoring chances, the team lacked the clinical edge needed to secure a win. The result leaves Besiktas with a sense of missed opportunity, as they failed to take advantage of their dominance on the pitch.

Fatih Karagumruk, meanwhile, earned a valuable point away from home through their organized and resilient defending. The draw keeps Besiktas in contention for a top-four finish, but the lack of efficiency in front of goal remains a concern for manager Okan Buruk and the coaching staff. As the season enters its final stretch, every point becomes crucial, and Besiktas will need to address their finishing issues to maintain their push for European qualification.

Ndidi’s comments reflect growing pressure on the team to deliver consistent results, especially with the Super Lig title race heating up. The midfielder’s leadership and honesty underscore the urgency for improvement as Besiktas prepare for their next fixture. The team’s ability to convert chances into goals will be key to their success in the remaining matches of the season.
