Chris Usulor, a former member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, has officially declared his intention to contest the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made during a public address to supporters and party stakeholders in his home constituency of Ezza South Local Government Area. Usulor, who served three terms in the state legislature, emphasized that his decision stems from a deep sense of duty and a commitment to delivering transparent, pragmatic, and results-driven representation for the people of Ebonyi Central.
In his declaration, Usulor stated, “I hereby formally declare my intention to contest for the Senatorial position to represent Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone on the platform of the APC.” He added that his motivation is rooted in the belief that the people of the zone deserve leadership that prioritizes accountability, inclusivity, and tangible progress. “This decision is driven by a deep sense of duty and a firm belief that our people deserve focused, transparent, pragmatic and results-driven representation,” he said.
Usulor highlighted the untapped potential of Ebonyi Central, noting that its farmers, traders, youths, and professionals are resilient and hardworking. He stressed, however, that this strength must be matched with effective leadership and policies that expand opportunities, improve infrastructure, enhance education and healthcare, and promote sustainable economic growth. “Ebonyi Central is rich in potential,” he said, “but we must match that strength with leadership that delivers.”
Drawing on his experience as a three-term lawmaker, Usulor said he possesses the legislative knowledge and governance insight necessary to serve effectively at the national level. He emphasized that his aspiration is not driven by personal ambition, but by a desire to serve, ensure accountability, and advance inclusive progress for all. “I am committed to listening to every community, engaging stakeholders and building consensus around practical solutions to our shared challenges,” he added.
As the son of the late Senator Vincent Usulor, Chris Usulor said he would prioritize job creation, youth empowerment, and rural infrastructure development if elected. He called on residents of the senatorial district to support his ambition, regardless of political affiliation, urging unity in the pursuit of development. His campaign is expected to focus on grassroots engagement and policy-driven solutions tailored to the needs of the people.
With the 2027 elections still over two years away, Usulor’s entry into the senatorial race adds a new dimension to the political landscape in Ebonyi Central. His experience and family legacy may position him as a strong contender in a region that continues to seek transformation and progress.
