APC Stakeholders Condemn Ogun East Consensus Move as Assault on Democracy

Tayo Onayemi, Deputy Director-General of BATOGD, recounted being threatened at the meeting and told to leave or face consequences. He said security personnel identified him as an outsider and warned him of potential trouble. The movement also condemned a heavy security presence outside Daniel’s residence on Wednesday, describing it as “executive lawlessness” and reminiscent of military-era tactics. They claimed the deployment of armoured vehicles and hundreds of police operatives was a deliberate attempt to disrupt their Community Assessment and Review Tour, which has already visited seven out of nine local government areas without incident.

BATOGD urged the APC national leadership to intervene to protect democratic processes within the party. They reiterated their full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential election, citing his proven ability to address national challenges. As tensions rise within the APC in Ogun East, the coming months will test the party’s commitment to inclusive and transparent leadership selection.
