EKITI GUBER POLL: PDPS OLUYEDE DECLARES HIMSELF OMOLAJA, THE UNIFIER APC FEARS

Wole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026, has declared himself the “Omolaja” — the unifier — of the Ekiti PDP, vowing to lead a decisive campaign to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and reclaim power for his party. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ikere Ekiti, Oluyede emphasized that his strategic political engagements are aimed at consolidating support and ensuring a total victory in the upcoming election. He dismissed criticisms over his high-level consultations as coming from politically irrelevant voices, asserting that unity remains the PDP’s greatest strength.

According to a press statement released by Oluyede’s Special Adviser on Media, Gani Salau, and distributed to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, the candidate stated, “I am the Omolaja of Ekiti PDP—the one bringing everyone together. That is what they fear. That is why they are uncomfortable.” He challenged opponents to continue their criticisms while the PDP focuses on building momentum, declaring, “Let them criticise. Let them complain. While they are talking, we are working—and we are winning.”

Oluyede called on all party members to close ranks and align with his campaign strategy, warning that division only benefits Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration. “This election is winnable—but only if we stand together. No excuses, no distractions. Victory is within reach,” he said. He criticized the current APC-led government for failing to deliver development despite the state’s vast resources, promising transformative change if elected.

Among his key pledges are the construction of an Independent Power Plant (IPP) to end power outages, massive road reconstruction, a functional ring road network, job creation for youths to end street idleness, timely payment of salaries and 13th-month bonuses for workers, and immediate resolution of unpaid pensions, gratuities, and leave bonuses. “Ekiti cannot continue like this. Enough of stagnation. We will fix this state,” he declared with conviction.

Oluyede made his ambition unmistakable, stating, “My mission is clear—by October 16, 2026, I will be at Oke Ayoba as Governor of Ekiti State. Nothing will stop it.” The Director-General of the Campaign Council, Makanjuola Ogundipe, urged members to begin ward-to-ward mobilization immediately, signaling the start of the campaign war. Ekiti PDP Chairman Tunji Odeyemi echoed the call, urging members to convert support into votes.

Deji Ogunsakin, the Deputy Governorship candidate, delivered a blunt message: “The time has come to vote out failure. Ekiti deserves better—and Oluyede represents that change.” Former Senator Duro Faseyi described Oluyede’s emergence as divine, saying, “God has started this journey, and He will finish it in victory.” The campaign team stressed that victory will not come from sentiment alone, but through unity, strategy, and aggressive mobilization. “This is not the time for division. This is the time to take power. Ekiti must rise—and it will rise with Oluyede.”

As the 2026 governorship race heats up, Oluyede’s campaign is positioning itself as a movement for change, with a clear focus on development, unity, and accountability. The PDP’s leadership is rallying behind him, signaling a determined push to reclaim Ekiti from the APC and deliver on long-promised reforms.
