A fresh political dispute has erupted in Osun State as the campaign team of Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15, 2026 election, accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of planning a sustained propaganda campaign to undermine his candidacy. The AMBO Media Fronts, the official media arm of Oyebamiji’s campaign, issued a statement signed by its coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, alleging that the state government is preparing to spread false and malicious narratives across print, broadcast, and digital media platforms. The group claims these efforts are designed to tarnish the image of Oyebamiji, whom they describe as a gentleman politician whose campaign is gaining strong momentum across the state.
According to the statement, the alleged propaganda strategy includes the deliberate dissemination of falsehoods through newspapers, radio, television, and social media. The campaign team argues that attempts to link Oyebamiji to any wrongdoing have repeatedly failed, prompting what they describe as a coordinated smear campaign that will continue until election day. They urged Osun residents to remain vigilant and disregard what they called “baseless publications and broadcasts,” emphasizing that such tactics are misleading and designed to manipulate public opinion.
Adedeji also called on the Adeleke administration to focus on its own performance in office, particularly questioning how certain federal funds have been utilized and raising concerns about the state’s broader economic conditions. He stressed that these are the real issues that matter to the people of Osun, not contrived propaganda against a credible alternative. The statement underscores the campaign’s belief that voters should be informed by facts, not fear-based narratives.
In response, the Adeleke Campaign Organisation dismissed the allegations, asserting that no amount of propaganda can erase Oyebamiji’s past record in public office. They pointed out that residents of Osun are well aware of his previous roles, including his tenure as a commissioner and his involvement in various state agencies. The campaign team highlighted that they have been actively showcasing Governor Adeleke’s achievements across major towns and sectors in the state.
To further challenge Oyebamiji, the Adeleke campaign released 30 accountability questions covering his past decisions on asset management, public funds, pension obligations, and economic policies. Specific concerns include the sale of state assets, financial decisions during his time in office, and his leadership roles, including oversight of waterways. The campaign urged Oyebamiji to “be man enough to own up to his past” and reminded voters that candidates should be judged by their records, not by political noise.
As the 2026 governorship race heats up, both camps are intensifying their efforts to shape public perception, setting the stage for a highly contested election in Osun State.
