The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its ambition to remain in power in Nigeria for the next 100 years, citing the need for sustained leadership to address the country’s deep-rooted challenges. This bold statement was made during the Yobe Leadership and Innovation Summit 2026, held in Damaturu on Thursday, as political preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to intensify across the nation. The party’s leadership emphasized long-term governance and structural strength as key to achieving its vision.
Yobe State APC Chairman, Hon. Muhammad Gadaka, delivered the party’s message through the State Youth Leader, Hon. Muhammad Musa Gulani, who represented him at the event. Gadaka affirmed that the APC is not merely focused on electoral victories but on building a lasting political framework that can deliver sustainable development. He stated that the party’s vision extends beyond federal power to include consistent control at state and local government levels.
“Our party’s vision is to remain in power at the federal, state, and local government levels for the next 100 years and beyond,” Gadaka said. “We need more time and additional terms to fully address Nigeria’s challenges.” He stressed that the complexity of Nigeria’s economic, security, and social issues requires more than short-term solutions, and that the APC is committed to policies that improve the lives of all Nigerians.
The summit brought together political leaders, youth representatives, and governance stakeholders to discuss leadership, innovation, and development in Yobe State and the broader country. Speakers highlighted the achievements of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration, particularly in youth inclusion and governance reform. Many young people have been appointed to key positions, including commissioners, special advisers, board members, and aides, according to Chief Convener of the summit, Faruk Abdullahi Chiromari.
Chiromari praised the governor for creating meaningful opportunities for the youth in leadership roles, noting that such inclusion fosters accountability and innovation. The event underscored the APC’s strategy of engaging younger generations in governance to ensure continuity and relevance. Gadaka also reassured citizens that the party is working to build a united, stable, and prosperous Nigeria.
“We call on Nigerians to have confidence in the APC government; the economy of this country will eventually work for all citizens,” he added. The party’s long-term ambition reflects a broader political strategy to consolidate power and influence over multiple electoral cycles. As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections, the APC’s declaration signals its intent to maintain dominance in the national political landscape for decades to come.
