Sowunmi Challenges Wike to Retire from APC, Join PDP for Presidential Bid

Sowunmi acknowledged that he does not expect Wike to make such a bold political shift, but insisted it would be the logical next step if the minister is genuinely committed to running for president. “The next game on the table, which I know he is not going to do, will be for Nyesom Wike to retire from the APC government he is serving and pick the presidential ticket of the PDP and give it his best shot,” he stated. He added, “You know why? Because he wanted to be president in 2023 anyway. And now that he has succeeded in managing the party infrastructure, if he is brave enough to retire from their party, he should come and make himself a presidential candidate.”

With the 2027 elections on the horizon, political watchers are closely monitoring how figures like Wike navigate their current roles and future ambitions. The growing tension between party loyalty and personal ambition continues to shape Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
