Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has expressed confidence in his chances of securing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary ticket in Gombe State, citing strong evidence from multiple polls as the foundation of his optimism. Speaking during a TVC interview on Sunday, Pantami emphasized that his campaign is grounded in data, not personal opinion, and highlighted his consistent top position in 13 separate surveys conducted both physically and online. He urged doubters to verify the results, asserting that evidence cannot be refuted by mere opinion.
Pantami, who served as a special adviser to President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential campaign, pointed to his leadership role within the APC as a key factor in his credibility. He recalled that Tinubu addressed him as a “party leader,” a title he attributes to his significant contributions during the merger of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2010. This merger, he noted, laid the foundation for the formation of the APC, and his role in that process solidified his standing within the party’s leadership structure.
He further explained that his popularity stems from his service as a federal minister, during which he worked diligently for Nigeria’s digital transformation and specifically for the development of Gombe State. Pantami stated that his modest but impactful contributions during his tenure have earned him widespread appreciation among the people of Gombe. He believes this goodwill, combined with his proven track record, gives him a strong advantage in the upcoming primary.
The former minister’s campaign strategy focuses on transparency and factual validation, setting him apart from candidates who rely on rhetoric or promises. His emphasis on verifiable data from polls demonstrates a modern, evidence-based approach to political campaigning. He also stressed his commitment to humility, acknowledging that even with his top positions in the surveys, he remains grounded and respectful of the democratic process.
As the APC prepares for its governorship primary in Gombe, Pantami’s campaign is gaining momentum through strategic messaging and data-driven claims. His background as a national leader and his deep roots in party politics position him as a formidable contender. The outcome of the primary will be closely watched, as it could shape the trajectory of Gombe’s political landscape in the coming years.
