The Ebonyi State Government has firmly stated that Governor Francis Nwifuru will not be distracted by what it calls “political theatrics, sponsored attacks, and staged protests” as the 2027 general elections approach. In a statement issued in Abakaliki on Wednesday, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh, accused unnamed political forces of using propaganda to divert attention from the administration’s development agenda. He emphasized that the governor remains fully committed to delivering on his People’s Charter of Needs, which focuses on improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, rural development, and workers’ welfare across the state.
Omebeh urged residents of Ebonyi to ignore what he described as “orchestrated distractions” designed to create public confusion and undermine governance. While acknowledging the constitutional right to peaceful protest and legitimate criticism, he warned against exploiting these rights to mislead citizens or destabilize the state. “Governor Nwifuru remains focused, undistracted and committed to delivering on his mandate,” Omebeh declared. “His Excellency will not be distracted by political theatrics, sponsored attacks or attempts to divert his attention from the task of building a more prosperous, peaceful and developed Ebonyi State.”
