2027: Enugus Endorsement of Tinubu Signals Political Maturity

Political leaders and stakeholders from Enugu East Senatorial District have publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah for second terms in office, a move hailed by Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Barr Ben Nwoye, as a sign of political maturity and commitment to continuity. The endorsement took place on Saturday at Okpara Square in Enugu, where prominent figures from across the region gathered to express their support for the re-election of both leaders. Nwoye described the event as a bold and visionary step aimed at sustaining ongoing development initiatives at both federal and state levels.

Speaking to the crowd, Nwoye expressed deep admiration for the presence of key political figures, including former Governor of old Anambra State, former Senate President Chief Ken Nnamani, and other founders and leaders of Enugu State. “I’m quite impressed because your presence shows political maturity,” he said, emphasizing that such unity reflects a shared vision for progress. He stressed that continuity in leadership would allow for the consolidation of existing achievements and the completion of projects already underway under the current administrations.

Nwoye particularly commended Governor Peter Mbah for his developmental strides across Enugu State, highlighting his focus on infrastructure, economic growth, and social development programmes. He noted that the governor’s performance has earned widespread support, cutting across political and regional lines. The APC chieftain also underscored the importance of the governorship zoning arrangement in Enugu State, which he described as a cornerstone of peace and political stability since 1999.

According to Nwoye, the rotational system among the three senatorial districts has ensured fairness and equitable distribution of political power, fostering unity and inclusion. “Rotation among the three senatorial districts has given us peace since 1999,” he stated, adding that the endorsement events held in Enugu West and North zones further reinforce this commitment to stability. He urged stakeholders to sustain the peaceful political atmosphere that the zoning formula has brought to the state.

The gathering attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community representatives, and supporters from across Enugu East Senatorial District. Many expressed confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Mbah, citing their track records and vision for the future. The event reinforced the growing momentum behind the re-election campaign, with stakeholders united in their belief that continuity will drive further progress.

As Nigeria approaches the next general elections, the endorsement in Enugu East reflects a broader trend of political consolidation and regional support for key leaders. This development signals strong backing for Tinubu and Mbah, and may influence voter sentiment in the coming electoral season.
