2027 Election Alert: ADC Warns Public Against Fraudulent Sale of Nomination Forms

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a strong warning to the public and party members about fraudulent activities surrounding the sale of nomination forms for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that only official channels are authorized for such transactions. In a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC clarified that any communication claiming to come from the National Chairman, David Mark, or the National Working Committee (NWC) must be verified through the National Publicity Secretary. The party stressed that unauthorized messages circulating on social media are false, unapproved, and deliberately misleading.

The ADC stated that the sale of nomination forms for presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial, and House of Representatives positions is constitutionally assigned to the office of the National Organising Secretary. Meanwhile, nomination forms for State House of Assembly positions are managed exclusively by the State Party Headquarters. Any attempt to sell, collect, or authorize the sale of these forms outside these designated offices is a direct violation of both the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act. The party emphasized that all official activities and decisions in the states are conducted strictly through recognized State Party Headquarters, and no individual or group has the authority to act independently.

The statement specifically addressed a viral video circulating online, which falsely claimed that National Chairman David Mark had authorized the sale of nomination forms through an unauthorized stakeholder. The ADC dismissed the video as a fabrication and urged members and the public to disregard such misinformation. The party warned that individuals involved in impersonation, fraud, or spreading false directives will face disciplinary action under the party constitution and applicable laws.

The ADC called on genuine members to remain focused, law-abiding, and committed to building a united and credible party ahead of the 2027 elections. It reiterated that transparency and adherence to proper procedures are essential to maintaining the integrity of the party’s nomination process. With the electoral cycle approaching, the party’s leadership is determined to ensure that only legitimate and constitutionally-sanctioned processes are followed. This proactive stance aims to protect the interests of party members and the broader electorate from exploitation and deception. The ADC’s efforts underscore the importance of vigilance and due diligence in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
