Hon. Hassan Kaikaku Jakduwa, the member representing Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on Sunday via his official Facebook page, where he explained that the decision came after deep reflection and wide consultations with stakeholders. Jakduwa emphasized that his move is aimed at enhancing his ability to deliver development and better services to his constituents in Yobe State.
In his statement, Jakduwa stated that his political realignment is driven by a desire to align with a platform that will strengthen his capacity to serve effectively. He expressed confidence that joining the APC will open more opportunities for development in his constituency. “My choice is driven by the desire to align with a platform that will further enhance my capacity to serve effectively and attract more opportunities and development to our constituency,” he wrote.
He also extended his gratitude to the leadership and members of the APC for their warm reception and support following his defection. Jakduwa thanked his supporters and well-wishers for their understanding, encouragement, and continued trust during this transition. He stressed that his commitment to public service remains unchanged, despite the shift in party affiliation.
Reaffirming his dedication, Jakduwa assured his constituents that his focus remains on peace, progress, and prosperity for Bade/Jakusko, Yobe State, and Nigeria as a whole. “I assure you all that my dedication to service remains firm and unwavering. Together, we will continue to work for peace, progress and prosperity in our constituency, Yobe State and Nigeria at large,” he added.
This defection adds to the growing number of lawmakers switching parties in Nigeria’s dynamic political landscape. The move may influence party dynamics in Yobe State, particularly as the APC seeks to consolidate its presence in the region. Jakduwa’s decision is also seen as a strategic shift aimed at improving access to federal resources and development projects for his constituents.
The House of Representatives has not yet formally recognized the defection, but party officials in the APC have welcomed Jakduwa and pledged to support his legislative agenda. His transition is expected to be processed through the necessary party and legislative procedures in the coming days. As political alignments continue to evolve, Jakduwa’s move underscores the ongoing search for effective governance and development in Nigeria’s federal constituencies.
