President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Jigawa State, winning all 206,520 accredited votes cast during the exercise. The results were officially announced by the returning officer and Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, at the collation centre in Dutse. The primary was contested across all 27 local government areas of the state, and the process was conducted peacefully and transparently, according to the governor.
Governor Namadi confirmed that Jigawa State has a total of 330,327 registered APC members, but only 206,520 were accredited to vote in the primary. He stated that President Tinubu received 206,520 votes, while his sole opponent, Mr. Osifo Stanley, received zero votes. This outcome reflects overwhelming support for Tinubu within the party structure in the state.
Earlier, after casting his own vote, Governor Namadi emphasized that the APC’s pledge to deliver over one million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 general election remains firm and unshakable. He attributed the high voter turnout to the deep trust and confidence that Jigawa residents have in the president’s leadership and vision. “As you can see, the people have lined up in large numbers for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while nobody is on the side of his opponents. This is a testimony to how popular the President is in the minds of the people of Jigawa,” he said.
The governor also highlighted that the primary’s outcome sends a strong message to opposition parties. He believes it demonstrates that the APC is on a clear path to victory at all levels in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The peaceful and orderly conduct of the primary, coupled with the massive turnout, underscores the party’s unity and organizational strength in Jigawa.
The results from Jigawa add to the growing momentum for President Tinubu’s re-election campaign, particularly within the APC’s stronghold regions. With no significant opposition in the primary, the party’s leadership in the state is confident that the enthusiasm seen during the vote will translate into strong electoral performance in the future. The primary also serves as a barometer of public sentiment, showing continued loyalty to Tinubu’s leadership across Nigeria’s northern regions.
As the 2027 general elections approach, the APC’s success in Jigawa State may influence voter behavior and party dynamics in other states. The party’s ability to mobilize such a high number of voters in a single primary suggests a well-coordinated campaign strategy. The outcome reinforces President Tinubu’s position as the undisputed APC flagbearer, with strong grassroots backing in key electoral zones.
