Ogundoyin Rallies PDP Leaders in Oke Ogun for 2027 Governorship Ambition

Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has intensified his campaign for the 2027 governorship election with a series of statewide consultations, focusing on the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone. The engagements, held on Saturday, brought together Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, grassroots mobilisers, and key political figures from all ten local government areas in the zone. The consultations were split into two strategic locations—first in Iseyin and then in Isale Taba, Saki West—highlighting Ogundoyin’s commitment to inclusive and grassroots-driven political engagement.

In Iseyin, leaders from Oke-Ogun Zone One, including former Oyo State PDP Chairman Alh. Omokunmi Mustafa and current State Chairman Chief Dayo Ogungbenro, welcomed party stakeholders from Iseyin, Kajola, Itesiwaju, and Iwajowa. They commended Ogundoyin’s leadership in the Assembly and his legislative experience, describing his governorship ambition as a progressive move to build on the achievements of the current administration. The leaders reaffirmed their unity within the party and pledged to mobilise support across the zone for his candidacy.

The second leg of the consultation took place in Isale Taba, Saki West, where stakeholders from Oke-Ogun Zone Two—comprising Irepo, Oorelope, Olorunsogo, Atisbo, Saki West, and Saki East—gathered. Prominent attendees included former Minority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Oyo State Pension Board, Hon. Raifu Adekunle; Oyo State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebisi; and party stalwart Alh. Mudasiru Eruobodo. Also present were former lawmaker and Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government, Kazeem Olayanju, and several grassroots leaders and party faithful.

At both meetings, Ogundoyin formally announced his governorship ambition and unveiled his development agenda, “IGBEGA OYO OMITUNTUN 3.0.” He described the blueprint as a strategic framework aimed at accelerating economic growth, strengthening state institutions, and improving the welfare of all Oyo State citizens. He urged party leaders and stakeholders to support his bid, promising inclusive governance and equitable development that would reflect the needs and aspirations of every region in the state.

Accompanying Ogundoyin on the tour were influential leaders from Ibarapaland, including former Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Moses Ojoawo; former House of Representatives member, Hon. Yemi Taiwo; and current lawmaker representing Ibarapa North/Central, Hon. Peter Ojedokun. Also present were former Commissioners Funmi Orisadeyi and Majekodunmi Aborode, as well as Hon. Dimeji Oladapo, Hon. Tunde Adegbenjo, and Hon. Monsuru Oduola. The three Local Government Chairmen from Ibarapa—Hon. Kazeem Arogundade (Ibarapa East), Hon. Sola Adeleke (Ibarapa Central), and Hon. Lateef Akorede (Ibarapa North)—also joined the delegation.

Ogundoyin’s consultations underscore his growing momentum within the PDP and his efforts to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 election. His emphasis on unity, development, and inclusivity positions him as a key contender in the race for the Oyo State governorship. As the political landscape continues to evolve, his strategic outreach to party leaders and grassroots mobilisers may shape the direction of the PDP’s campaign in the state.
