Adediran Jandor Confirms Bid for Lagos APC Governorship Ticket

Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor and a prominent Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant, has reaffirmed his commitment to contesting for the party’s ticket in the 2027 Lagos State governorship election. In response to widespread social media speculation that incumbent Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has been endorsed by APC leaders as the party’s preferred candidate, Jandor’s camp has dismissed the reports as baseless and misleading.

Through his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, Jandor stated that no aspirant has been officially anointed by the Lagos APC leadership. The statement emphasized that the party’s official position, as communicated by the State Chairman, remains that all aspirants will participate in a credible and transparent primary election. This position underscores the party’s commitment to internal democracy and fair competition ahead of the 2027 polls.

Jandor is actively preparing for the primary election, engaging party members across Lagos and strengthening his grassroots networks. His campaign team insists that he remains fully committed to the electoral process and is ready to compete fairly for the party’s nomination. Despite the rumors, Jandor has shown respect for party discipline and leadership, stating he will abide by any decision made by the party’s leadership, including a potential consensus candidacy.

The aspirant’s statement also serves as a caution to party members not to confuse individual or group campaigns with the official stance of the APC. He stressed that only when the party leadership and its leader speak will their position be authoritative. “When the party and our Leader speak, I am sure no one will do otherwise,” Jandor’s spokesperson quoted him as saying, highlighting his loyalty to party structures.

This development comes amid growing political activity in Lagos State as the 2027 election draws nearer. With multiple aspirants vying for the APC ticket, the party’s internal dynamics will play a crucial role in shaping the eventual candidate. Jandor’s firm stance signals his determination to remain in the race while respecting the party’s decision-making process. As the primary election approaches, all eyes will be on how the APC leadership navigates these competing interests and ensures a peaceful, inclusive selection process.
