Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known by his stage name Ogogo, has opened up about a life-threatening illness that nearly cost him his life, revealing he battled a severe ulcer for seven months and could not eat without vomiting blood. In a candid interview with Feel Right News TV, Ogogo shared how actress Remi Surutu played a pivotal role in recognizing his symptoms and urging him to seek medical attention. The incident occurred while he was on a movie set, where he began experiencing extreme weakness that forced him to pause filming.
Remi Surutu, noticing his deteriorating condition, approached him and suggested he might be suffering from an ulcer based on his symptoms. Her concern prompted Ogogo to visit a hospital the following day for a thorough medical examination. Doctors confirmed the presence of a severe ulcer, a diagnosis that marked the beginning of a grueling health journey.
For seven long months, Ogogo was unable to eat normally. Any attempt to consume food resulted in violent vomiting, often accompanied by blood. The physical and emotional toll was immense, but he remained steadfast in his faith. He credited divine intervention for his survival and recovery, expressing deep gratitude to God for saving his life.
Ogogo recounted the ordeal in his own words, saying, “While I was on a movie set, I felt very weak, and I couldn’t continue with the film making so I decided to take a break. It was actress Remi Surutu that came to me and told me that I was having an ulcer due to the kind of symptoms I complained about. On the next day, I went to the hospital to conduct a medical check up, and it was discovered that I actually had an ulcer. I couldn’t eat for 7 months, and anytime I tried to eat, I would vomit the food with blood. It was God that healed me and got me out of the situation, and that’s why I will always thank God.”
His story has resonated with many in the Nollywood community and beyond, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of paying attention to one’s health and seeking timely medical help. Ogogo’s recovery has also highlighted the value of support from peers in the entertainment industry, especially in times of crisis.
As he continues to heal and return to his acting career, Ogogo remains committed to sharing his journey to inspire others facing similar health challenges. His experience underscores the fragility of life and the strength found in faith and community support.
