Access Holdings Plc has announced the appointment of Oluseyi Kumapayi as Deputy Managing Director, African Subsidiaries, and Olanrewaju Bamisebi as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation, at its banking subsidiary, Access Bank Plc.
The appointments, which received approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), took effect on October 27 and October 28, 2026, respectively.
Kumapayi was promoted from his previous position as Executive Director, African Subsidiaries, while Bamisebi moved from Access Holdings, where he held the same technology leadership portfolio, to the board of Access Bank.
The leadership changes form part of the financial group’s strategy to improve profitability, strengthen capital efficiency and generate higher returns from its existing banking operations across Africa and international markets.
Kumapayi, who joined Access Bank in 2002, has more than 25 years of banking experience covering financial management, strategy, treasury, risk and business development.
He served as Group Chief Financial Officer between 2007 and 2020 before assuming responsibility for the bank’s African subsidiaries in November 2020.
In his expanded role, he will oversee efforts to improve earnings, operational efficiency and capital productivity across the bank’s African operations while supporting the Managing Director in the institution’s broader strategic management.
Bamisebi brings more than 20 years of experience in technology transformation, digital banking and enterprise systems.
Before joining the Access Group, he held senior technology positions at Equity Group Holdings, including Group Director of Information Technology and Operations and Managing Director of Finserve Africa. He also previously served as Group Chief Information Officer at Diamond Bank.
His new responsibilities include modernising Access Bank’s technology infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity, improving digital banking services and reducing operating costs through technology-driven efficiency.
The appointment also transfers executive responsibility for technology and digitalisation from the holding company to Access Bank, bringing technology management closer to the institution’s core banking operations.
Access Holdings Group Chairman Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede said the appointments support the group’s efforts to generate stronger financial performance from its established banking network.
According to him, the organisation is increasingly focused on improving returns on capital, operational efficiency and shareholder value rather than concentrating primarily on geographical expansion.
Access Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Roosevelt Ogbonna also identified stronger subsidiary performance and improved technology integration as priorities for the institution.
He said the bank intends to simplify its operating platforms, strengthen service reliability and improve customer experience while reducing the cost of delivering banking services.
The appointments come as Access Holdings seeks to consolidate its operations across multiple African markets and improve the financial contribution of its subsidiaries.
