Indian police have arrested three Nigerians for allegedly procuring, storing and supplying narcotic substances through a network of associates.
The suspects, Nnamdi Osita, aka Johan Peter (46), Victor Ocaforo (33) and Obinna Ernest (32), were nabbed alongside an Indian national, Attar Singh, alias Lucky (23).
In a report by an Indian media outlet, ThePrint, on Thursday, the suspects were involved in wholesale and retail distribution of drugs.
The police reportedly recovered 417 grammes of MDMA and 105 grammes of cocaine, estimated to be worth Rs 1.5 crore (approximately N212m) in total.
The Nigerian suspects and their Indian accomplice were residing in Nilothi area, the outer west of Delhi.
An Indian police officer said the security agency received information on September 25 that Peter was supplying cocaine and MDMA across Delhi National Capital Region and would deliver narcotics near Shukar Bazar Road in Chander Vihar.
“Acting on the tip-off, the team reached the spot and apprehended Peter and his two associates, Ocaforo and Ernest, after they allegedly attempted to flee into a nearby building,” the report stated.
“The officer said during interrogation, Peter and Ernest allegedly disclosed their links with Singh, following which he was arrested from his residence in Nilothi.”
The officer disclosed that the Nigerians had also overstayed their visas.
“Peter had come to India in 2013 on a tourist visa and was overstaying. Ernest arrived in 2016 on a business visa, while Ocaforo came in 2020 on a medical visa,” the officer said.
