Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, has officially announced Chief Michael Emmanuel Ombugadu as his running mate for the 2027 gubernatorial election. The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday, marking a key development in the party’s preparations for the upcoming polls. Wadada described the selection as a strategic move to strengthen the APC ticket and ensure broad-based representation across the state.
Ombugadu brings over three decades of experience in public service, administration, finance, education, and the private sector. His professional journey began at Ashaka Cement Plc, where he gained early exposure to corporate operations. He later served at Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic in Lafia, contributing to academic development in the region. His tenure at the Nasarawa State Pension Bureau culminated in his appointment as Director of Finance and Accounts, a role that showcased his expertise in financial management and accountability.
Wadada emphasized Ombugadu’s record of diligence, integrity, and commitment to public service throughout his career. He highlighted his grassroots political engagement, noting that Ombugadu’s leadership has been shaped by resilience, loyalty, and deep connection with his constituents. The senator praised Ombugadu’s decision to place party interest and the collective good of Nasarawa State above personal ambition during recent political developments, calling it a reflection of his character and values.
“Beyond the positions he has held, I value the man: his humility, his loyalty, his understanding of our people and his commitment to service,” Wadada stated. He stressed that the joint ticket represents the diversity of Nasarawa State, encompassing its 13 Local Government Areas, 18 Development Areas, and 147 electoral wards. This inclusive approach, according to Wadada, ensures that all segments of society are represented in their vision for governance.
The campaign theme “One Nasarawa. One People. One Future” remains central to Wadada’s platform. He pledged to run an issue-based campaign focused on unity, security, economic development, and the dignity of every citizen. “We will run a campaign that unites rather than divides; that focuses on issues rather than sentiments; and that places the development, security, prosperity and dignity of the people of Nasarawa State above every other consideration,” he said.
Wadada expressed confidence in the APC ticket and congratulated Ombugadu on his selection. As the 2027 elections draw nearer, the APC is positioning itself as a party committed to inclusive governance and sustainable development in Nasarawa State.
